It all started as a kid standing at the kitchen counter with my dad toothpicks in hand, cracking open a can of smoked oysters. Back then we just called it canned fish, but that moment planted the seed.
Fast forward to 2018, when I tried upgrading my dad’s birthday spread with a lineup of nicer tinned fish. Smoked oysters, scallops, rainbow trout the works. He wasn’t sold… but I absolutely was. I took the leftovers home, and that’s when the rabbit hole truly opened.
A few years later, I started searching for better tuna in olive oil than what I grew up with, grabbing anything interesting I spotted on the shelves. One tin led to another, and suddenly I had a full-blown tinned fish stash.
Reviews became my outlet my way to share flavors, textures, tin art, and stories after talking my other half’s ear off about food. Inspired by creators like Matt Carlson (Canned Fish Files), Mei (Day with Mei), and Marcus (Tinned Fish Reviews), I wanted to add my own voice to the tinned fish world.
To me, tinned fish isn’t just food—it’s an adventure. From beautiful packaging and rich cannery history to discovering what you love (and what you don’t), it’s all part of the fun. If tinned fish feels intimidating, come along with me. We’ll find some gems, hit a few duds, and enjoy the ride.
And the merch? Just a reminder not to take life or tinned fish too seriously. Have fun. 🐟
